Just for Kids and Youth

For our youngest members (infant- pre-k):  Nursery child care is provided for infants (who are at least six weeks old) and toddlers, Sunday mornings during our 9:00 am and 10:30 am worship services. Our mission is to provide a safe, loving environment for children, while parents participate in Sunday school, worship, and other church-wide experiences. The nursery is staffed by workers who have been carefully screened. No reservations or pre-registration is necessary, however, please remain on the church property while your child is in nursery care.

Four our children (pre-k - High School):  The First United Methodist Church has a long-term vision of transforming lives through the children's Sunday School. We want our children to experience the love of Christ, to embrace Christ personally, and to develop into young adults with a mature and solid faith.

Our purpose is to love and nurture these children as they grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and His love for us all. To do this, we are providing a fun and purposeful learning environment that will help them remember their Sunday School experience all the days of their lives. Studies have shown that children retain better what they learn, when they experience it in multiple ways.

We provide Sunday School during both the 9:00 am and 10:30 am services!  Kids start with their families and friends in the sanctuary for the beginning of worship. After the children’s message they all go to their classrooms for Bible lessons, craft activities and games. During the 9:00 am service classes are divided by ages for Pre-Kindergarten and through High School. During the 10:30 am service there is a one-room classroom curriculum for Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade. All of our Sunday School teachers undergo a CORI background check with the State of Massachusetts.

Just for youth (grade 6-12):

Mission
What is Youth Ministry? It is about:
1) Empowering young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today;

2) Drawing young people to responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the faith community,

3) And fostering the personal and spiritual growth of each young person."

Our program here at the First United Methodist Church aims to do just that by providing a wide variety of opportunities for teens to use their gifts and to express their faith through meaningful roles. Youth Group is a time and place for teenagers, to spend time with other teens that love their faith, and who want to grow closer to Christ, in a fun and meaningful way. Teens attend meetings where faith discussions, games, music, food and laughter are shared. There are many opportunities for leadership and growth.  If you are or are the parent/guardian of a High School teen looking to get to know God better, make some new friends, gain some service hours and have fun doing so, then Youth Group is just for you.  Typically, both middle school and senior high youth groups meet on Sunday evenings, with shared time together and time spent in age appropriate activities and sharing.
